Studio Kereya Comes to Lotus Fire!
Studio Kereya is the virtual home of djembe and dunun classes in seacoast NH and southern Maine.
We currently offer classes every Wednesday from 6:00 till 7:30 and a performance class from 7:30 till 9:00. The classes are open to all levels.
Djembes and dununs are available if you do not have one to play.
These classes are taught by Carl Nickerson.
Carl Nickerson has been teaching West African style drumming since October, 2000. Carl’s teaching style blends his ‘traditional’ background under master drummers Mamady Keita and Famoudou Konate with his more classical education (Master of Music from UNH).
Carl’s goal is to create an atmosphere where his students can explore the music and culture of West Africa, specifically of the Malinke people. Carl has been performing on the djembe since 2000 in the band Fote as well as a percussionist in various projects and recordings in the seacoast area.
Beginner Classes are Tuesdays (starting 7/6) from 6- 730 pm at Lotus Fire Studio
Mixed Level Class Wednesdays from 6 - 730pm
Performance Class Wednesdays 730 - 9 p.m.
